Wimbledon 2019 Women's Predictions for the Finals

"I've been waiting for this moment for all my life" but not with the negative undertone of Phil Collins's song. This moment has eluded Serena Williams' for over two years, ever since she went on maternity leave. Since then she's lost two major championship finals. She's always the favorite even when playing someone the caliber of Simona Halep.

Though Halep has only one major championship win to her name, she's lost at two finals in recent years. Halep has been the WTA's most consistent top-ten ranked player. Halep brings a dedication to a game that only a few players can match, and only surpassed by Serena, particularly when she reigned supreme. Though one of the two will lose the match, both are winners and will give their all.

Finals - The Anticipated Quarter vs. The Surprise Quarter
Serena Williams vs. Simona Halep
Expected: Serena is going for her 24th majors championship. She has beaten Halep 9 of the 10 times they played.
Surprise: Halep, for all her consistency, was not slated to make it this far. This is her first finals at Wimbledon. She has not fared well against Serena. She has two ways of winning this match: Hope Serena is out of sorts, or establish her offensive game like she did against Elina Svitolina.
Prediction: Serena wins if she can avoid errors and nerves that make her feel she has to go for early winners.
